'Lowering costs while improving service’ has always been my motto as a trained economist and candidate for office.
In recent years, I have been blessed with several election victories!
I ran for a seat on the Sanborn Regional School District (SRSD) School Board, with a “Boost Test Scores - Lower Property Taxes!” platform. Our high school Math and English scores were stagnating - while school spending (and taxes) increased! Budget accountability and greater student success were my goals. I was elected in 2016 and then re-elected in 2018. I became School Board Vice Chair, and Chair of the Policies Committee.
During my time on School Board we worked with the administration to create a “Graduate Success Profile” which now guides all programs. The “Profile” requires that all expenditures using your tax dollars be linked to measurable outcomes demonstrating students are making progress in basic skills and subject areas.
Our Math program was overhauled. The entire District Policy Manual comprised of hundreds of policies was updated. A plan to reorganize district facilities and reduce excess capacity was created - and $1.5 million in Property Taxes were returned to citizens. We blocked costly items such as a $133,000 “public relations” hire the prior superintendent wanted.
When I moved from Newton to Kingston in 2020, I had to resign my Board position. I then ran for and won a seat on the Sanborn School Budget Committee in 2023, and in 2024 was also elected to serve on Kingston’s Town Budget Committee.
School boards and fiscal committees must review the dozens of NH RSAs governing local decisions and procedures. It’s part of our job. Often, a mandated State RSA is unclear - or seems to lack common sense and needs to be changed before local conditions can see improvement.
That is why I am running to be your State Representative in Concord.
